Allard

Founding Year
1588
Origins
The Allard family originated in Normandy, France and were among the settlers who attempted to establish a colony in 1580 on Bleakwater Cove. When that settlement failed and many families perished, the Allards were among those rescued by The Nine in 1588 and brought to what is known today as Cresline Cay. Nearly wiped out before their arrival, the family has long carried a deep sense of gratitude towards the Founders for saving their bloodline. FOr generations this story has been passed down within the family as a reminder that their survival and their place on the island, was granted through the mercy of their gods.
Contribution
For centuries the Allard family worked primarily as farmers, helping supply food and labor to the Community. In 1906, following devastation on the island and the opening of the settlement to Outsiders, the family shifted its role by constructing the Allard Inn. The inn provided temporary housing for newcomers and helped facilitate their conversion into island life while also allowing the family to quietly observe and report on Outsiders to the Founding Families. After the inn burned down in 2017, it was rebuilt as the Allard Motel, which continues to function as a gathering place for the Islanders.
Reputation
The family is generally viewed as loyal and dependable members of the Community. A reputation built through centuries of service and devotion to Cresline Cay. Their inn historically placed them in a position to observe Outsiders and dissidents, leading many to believe the family has long served as quiet informants for the Founding Fathers. Rumors persist that the original inn contained hidden rooms and secret passageways designed for darker purposes. In more recent years, the family’s reputation has become closely tied to Celine Allard, whose wild behavior and frequent scandals have made her a constant subject of gossip. Despite this, few deny the Allards’ continued usefulness to the island.
Traditions
Within the Allard family, the story of their rescue from the failed French settlement is retold often, reinforcing the belief that their bloodline owes its survival to Cresline Cay and its’ gods and must therefore serve the island faithfully. Hospitality has long been central to the family’s identity, though it carries a watchful edge. Guests are always observed, and the Allards have traditionally kept careful track of thsoe who pass through their doors. Their household also maintains a quiet expectation that each generation contribute to protecting the island’s secrecy and stability, whether through labor, loyalty, or information.
Present Influence
The family remains one of the island’s long standing settler families, though their numbers have dwindled after repeated tragedies over the past century. Following the destruction of the family inn in 2017 and the deaths of much of the previous generation. Celine assumed responsibility for both the business and her younger sister, Valerie. Under her leadership the rebuilt motel has become a regular gathering place for islanders. While her reputation is controversial, the family’s long tradition of loyalty to Cresline Cay ensures they remain a recognized and useful presence with the Community.
