The Black Oath
If you are easily offended out of character, The Forgotten Tower may not be the place for you.
This setting draws heavily from the tone and themes found in the worlds inspired by H. P. Lovecraft. These stories deal with unsettling truths, difficult themes, moral ambiguity, violence, and taboos that may not be comfortable for everyone. The Families of Cresline Cay and the people of Bleakwater Cove exist within a culture shaped by centuries of ritual, secrecy, and tradition. These elements are intentional and foundational to the setting.
Because of this, it is important to understand that not everyone will share the same ideals, boundaries, or storytelling preferences as the person beside them. Participation in this community means respecting that difference. Do not expect to be allowed the freedom to impose your personal narrative, morality, or comfort level onto the roleplay of others.
The atmosphere and environment of the story will constantly evolve… much like the tides that surround the island itself.
Circumstances change. Alliances shift. Characters grow and adapt as the world around them does the same.
Those who refuse to adapt and continue to fight against the current will find themselves adrift.
The lore of Cresline Cay is wholly original, though it draws inspiration from cosmic horror and maritime folklore.
There is a clear framework for the world we are writing in, including its history, traditions, and the structures that shape the lives of those who live there.
Creative interpretation and character growth are encouraged. However, concepts that contradict or break the established lore will not be accepted. The integrity of the setting must remain intact so that everyone can participate in a shared and immersive story.
Cresline Cay is a place built upon secrets, ancient covenants, and traditions older than memory.
Players who choose to take part in this world should do so with the understanding that its tone, history, and atmosphere are meant to challenge and inspire collaborative storytelling and be fully aware that their character may die.
